Pet Safe Office Plants

When purchasing plants for the office, many don’t consider what plants may be pet safe.

Typically, this is due to the assumption that since it is an office, pets won’t be around to sniff, lick, or bite the plants. However, this is a false assumption! Many offices will allow people to bring their pets occasionally, or some employees may have emotional support animals that come in with them. Many beautiful plants and flowers can be highly toxic to our furry friends even without ingestion- for example, just exposure to the pollen of a lily can greatly harm cats.

A great way to guarantee your employees know they are appreciated is to ensure all plants are pet safe! For those with service animals, it also shows that you will accommodate them in more ways than what may be required (as of 2022, it is not required via ADA for companies to have pet-safe plants for those with service animals- but it never hurts to take pets into consideration when choosing your plants). Below are a few of the top picks for pet-safe office plants!

Ponytail Palm

Ponytail palms are a common office plant! They’re common due to not only their unique beauty, but they are low-maintenance.

Orchid

These colorful flowers are stunning and are 100% safe if your pet wants to take a sniff!

Bromeliad

Bromeliads are vibrant and have been said to symbolize protection!

Bamboo

Bamboo is a common staple of office plants. They really liven up any room- and add a serene, calming element!
